Catholic Relief Services: Providing Aid to Those in Need Worldwide

CRS: A History of Helping

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has a long and storied history of providing aid to those in need. Founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States, CRS has been serving World War II survivors in Europe and beyond. As the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States, CRS provides assistance to people in more than 100 countries without regard to race, religion, or nationality.

Mission and Services

CRS's mission is to ease suffering and provide assistance to those in need. The organization works to provide food, water, shelter, and other essential services to those affected by natural disasters, conflict, and poverty. CRS also works to promote peace and justice, and to empower people to improve their own lives and livelihoods.

CRS's work is funded by a variety of sources, including government grants, private donations, and the contributions of its member agencies. CRS is also a member of the Caritas Internationalis network, a global confederation of Catholic relief agencies.
